These days I am working on my new teaching practice. Pretty soon I’m going to decorate this space into a walhalla for saxophone students. The plans are already there! Beside that I’m rehearsing with the Stageband for a concert in the USVA on the 9th of february with the music from ‘Henri Gerrits’. Looking forward!
Last december I did a gig with soundartist Harry de Wit in the performance ‘Bouwvakker en het meisje’ in Assen’s brand new theater ‘Nieuwe Kolk’. These days I am writing a lot of new tunes. You can check them out next wednesday in Café Peter Pan, where I’ll be playing with Kasper Lang Eriksen, Bas Horstink and Tony Hoyting. Beautiful musicians! I hope 2012 will bring more inspiration, wonderful music and nice projects! Happy New Year!
The concert yesterday in ‘de Smederij’ with big band ‘Stageband’ was awesome! We played the beautiful music composed and arranged by Kurt Weiss and the crowd was amazing. Next week (november 29th at 10.15 pm. Tuinstraat 4, Groningen) I will open the session in ‘de Smederij’ with ‘Joost van der Beek’ on guitar, ‘Arthur Buitelaar’ on bass and ‘Dennis Elderman’ on drums. We will play original music mixed with some fine jazzstandards. So don’t hesitate and come out of your lazy chair, grab your bike and gloves, and listen to new music from the Kees Krabben Group and have a beer (or 2, 4, 28). There is also a jamsession afterwards, so feel free to bring your instrument or voice. Hope to see you all there!
After an awesome holiday in Berlin I did some great gigs last weekend, first with Arthur Buitelaar on bass and Joost van der Beek on guitar. We played funky and latin grooves. You always can rely on Arthur and Joost for excellent support in this style of music! On sunday I did a concert in the museum of Groningen in the morning together with Jan-Eise Fokkema. All the compliments to Jan-Eise who did a tremendous job! We played a very defiant ‘free’ repetoire with modern compositions from Herbie Hancock and Mc Coy Tyner. The role of the drummer is getting more and more inside of me.
