Amsterdam based saxophonist Kees Krabben (22-08-1988). Mostly known for his unique alto sound and lyrical improvisations. Music that breathes.

Open ears

Imagine that musical genres are like flowers. Jazz is like the bee that travels from flower to flower.
This eclectic style is the platform where Krabben feels home the most. Music played by open ears.
It stimulates a high sense of creativity and intuition with room for expression and improvisation. An international language at the same time.

Kees toured at a young age in Israel, the Benelux and United States.

Performed with Benny Golson, John Engels, Quentin Bryan Angus and Owen Hart Jr. among others.

‘Master of Music’

Alumnus of the Prince Claus Conservatory Groningen, Purchase College New York and Codarts Rotterdam.

Kees holds a ‘Master of Music’ degree.

Kees studied a semester in New York City with Eric Alexander, Jimmy Halperin, Steve Wilson and John Abercrombie.

Also attended masterclasses with Chris Potter, James Moody, Dick Oatts, Miguel Zenon, Sam Newsome, David Liebman, Jerry Bergonzi and Branford Marsalis.

Prins Claus Conservatory Groningen; study with Michael Moore, Miguel Martinez, Don Braden, Mark Gross, Alex Sipiagin, David Berkman and Ralph Peterson Jr. among others.

Rotterdam; study with Eric Vloeimans, Nancy Braithwaite (classical Bb clarinet) and Simon Rigter among others.

Kees loves to motivate people by making music together. Creating room for self-expression by guiding them with a lot of experience, creativity and expertise to their ultimate performance. Krabben is music workshop leader for children at Stichting Buitenkunst.
